While at NAS Pensacola for my flight physical, I got the chance to meet and talk to other prospective aviators. While none of us would admit to being scared of going to OCC (Officer Candidates Class), we all acknowledged our fears of being sent home. Not because of integrity, leadership, or attitude, but because of injury.
If you get hurt at OCC, you are put on “light duty†until you heal. If you aren’t healed within a few days or a week, you are sent packing. Most of the time, you can reapply to the program, and will be given another chance.
With OCC 191 only 82 days away, I feel a pressure to train myself to an unbreakable state. The only comfort I have is that I know I am not the only one who feels this way.
