Not sure how old this is, but I thought it was cool enough to pass on.

  • Why I’ll never own cats

My sister’s friend turned 30 yesterday and my sister wanted to go out and celebrate, and she asked me if I’d watch her kids. I showed up starving at 7:15PM, and parked behind my sister in the driveway. My sister knew I hadn’t eaten and had taken out some frozen lasagna to thaw. I put it in the microwave while my sister finished getting ready to leave. The microwave beeped and I took the lasagna out and sat behind it on the kitchen table, ready to feast.

“Michael, can you move your car, I need to leave, I’m late.”

I left my food on the table and went down to move my car. My sister pulled out and drove away, and I went back upstairs to eat my lasagna. I walked into the kitchen to find both cats eating my dinner. I gently removed them from the table and asked Cedric (4) if they were eating my lasagna.

“Yes. But they’re not supposed to.”

“Why didn’t you yell at them?” I asked.

    Cedric just shrugged.

I was faced with a dilemma. Either throw out the lasagna and go hungry, or suck it up and eat it. It would be an awful waste to get rid of that much food, and I was starving, so I ate it.

I’m glad I did, it was delicious.

  • 8 month update

It’s hard to believe it has been 8 months since I broke my hip. Rehab is going well, though not as fast as I had hoped. I go to the gym 4-5 days a week, but mostly do weight training. Due to a couple bad back-to-back experiences, I’ve been staying away from cardio as of late, but will hopefully get back into it soon. As expected even lower body weight training has been giving me some problems. Despite everything, it feels awesome to be back at the gym and getting back into shape.

My heel lift has been working pretty well. I don’t have that bad of a limp when I’m wearing it, and the leg doesn’t fatigue as fast when I’m walking around. I’m down to a cane as you can see in some of the recent pictures. I haven’t used a crutch for almost a month. I am making slow progress and will hopefully be walking unassisted in a month or so. I hope so at least, Seniors is less than 7 months away.

  • Owen & Liz get married

Owen & Liz’s wedding was last weekend down in Long Beach Island, NJ. My father performed the ceremony. He isn’t a priest, he’s the Mayor, and Mayors can marry people in NJ, something I didn’t know until he became Mayor. This was the fourth wedding he has done. Everyone had an awesome time, the whole weekend was a blast.
