Openbah gets a job

May 17th, 2011 2 comments

Last Thursday I interviewed for a perioperative nurse position in my dream hospital. They emailed me after the interview and offered me the job. I’ll start in 3 weeks and could not be more excited.

I am fortunate to begin my career in an area that I am interested in, and at one of the top hospitals in the country. For those of you that don’t know what a perioperative nurse is, this page should help.

NYU College of Nursing Pinning Ceremony

December 15th, 2010 1 comment

After wrapping up my final exams last week, I am finally finished with school. We had our pinning ceremony yesterday and it has set in that I am actually done. It was a rough 15 months, but I am glad I chose NYU. I also made a number of great friends in the process.

The next step is taking the NCLEX exam which is the licensure examination that all registered nurses must pass before they can work. Since we don’t officially graduate until January 24th, I won’t be able to take the NCLEX until sometime in February. It works out well for me, since I’m going to be recovering from my total hip replacement until then anyway.

One month until graduation

In one month from today I will be celebrating the completion of my second Bachelor’s degree with my family and friends. Because our class is graduating in December, we have a Valedictory Breakfast/Pinning ceremony in lieu of a graduation ceremony. We have the option to return in May 2011 to walk in both the nursing graduation and the NYU graduation at Yankee Stadium, both of which I plan on attending.
